FathomVerse
Launching in 2024, FathomVerse is a mobile game that teaches casual gamers about ocean life while improving machine-learning models and expanding annotated datasets.
Designed to inspire a new wave of ocean explorers, FathomVerse combines immersive gameplay with cutting edge science. As players interact with real ocean imagery collected by researchers, they learn about marine biology and animal morphology. In turn, the players are teaching artificial intelligence models to identify and annotate images.
The mobile game features innovative gameplay and rich graphics that engage ocean enthusiasts, animal lovers, and armchair explorers alike. FathomVerse is a collaborative project created by Ocean Vision AI, MBARI, Monterey Bay Aquarium, &ranj, and Internet of Elephants. It launches in early 2024 and will be available for download on iOS and Android devices.
